- The Great Victory is our common holiday and the common property of peoples, who fought shoulder to shoulder at the fronts, in partisan detachments, in the Resistance movement. We are eternally indebted to the heroes and must preserve for the future generations the truth about the past war, uphold the honor, dignity, good name of the living and the fallen, firmly counteract all attempts to falsify historical facts. Opening of the new exposition is an important and timely initiative, - the President's greeting says.
In his speech, Vladimir Medinsky noted the importance of the exhibition project in countering the falsification of history.
- The history of the Great Patriotic War consists of a huge number of elements - documents, objects, scientific research, memories. But it is the museum exposition that is the tip of this iceberg. Here, in addition to items and original documents, there are texts with figures of war, information about the millions of victims, the losses of the occupied countries, the participants in the anti-Hitler coalition. Behind each of these exhibits are the lives of individual people destroyed by this terrible war. Today we see that a campaign to review the results of the World War II is under way in the world. The campaign, which sets as its ultimate goal not just a change of emphasis, but a change in the very essence of the outcome of the World War II. A campaign that wants to call into question who was the winner in this war, and who was the party that unleashed it. In this regard, the work of museum staff, scientists to counter the falsification of history, to preserve the true truth about the war is of an important fundamental nature, - the RMHS Chairman said.
Alexander Shkolnik expressed his gratitude to all who helped to create the exposition - the Russian Military Historical Society, the Central Museum of the Armed Forces, the Memorial Museum of German Anti-Fascists, the Russian State Archive, School Museum of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya and those who provided unique materials and scientific and expert support.
The Historical Truth Hall is a new exhibition space where all the main facts and documentary evidence about the bloodiest war in the history of mankind are presented.
Here is a terrible statistics of the Great Patriotic War - from the destroyed cities and settlements of the Soviet Union, to the dead soldiers and civilians. Data on financial losses are also presented. Photos, newsreels, household items, weapons, newspapers, posters, personal belongings and documents - all this will allow us to realize with special depth that we must remember not only the heroes of the war, but also the victims of those terrible years.
