On June 22, the app became available in the Google Play for Android and in the AppStore for the iOS users. Application greatly simplifies the process of uploading photos of monuments and burial places to the website. A free application is equipped with a convenient and simple interface.

"Memory Place" is a federal social patriotic project aimed to identify, preserve, and maintain the objects of military historical heritage and places of military glory (monuments, memorial plaques, eternal flames, fraternal and solitary burials). For this purpose, an Internet portal with an interactive map was created. Any person can find or designate memorials and places of memory, including forgotten ones. 

Currently, more than 10,000 objects are placed on the interactive map. The application will increase their number to 100,000 - to reach every village, every street, take into account every monument and every feat.

Any active citizen will be able to join the volunteer movement and make his personal contribution to the preservation of the country's historical and cultural heritage. After a simple registration procedure in the application, users can add an object, describe it, and attach photos. At the same time, "people's monitoring" will become an incentive for local authorities to keep monuments in proper condition.

In addition to the already available option of monitoring the status of monuments and memorials, the project will allow activists to exchange information and coordinate the events - whether it is a clean-up activities, site improvement works, laying flowers, or congratulating veterans. As if it was a social network, you can share news and post photo albums on the conducted events.

Vladislav Kononov, the executive director of the Russian Military Historical Society, says, “The fact is that many monuments that were installed after 1945, with the passage of time came ... can not be said to be unfit for use, but there was an urgent problem of their overhaul or replacement. While working on the installation of a monument for the Soviet soldier in the place of common graves, we came to the conclusion that there is no single register body in Russia for the memorable places of the Great Patriotic War. According to different estimates, there are up to 100 000 such places of memory in our country. The records are kept by local authorities and the Ministry of Defense, but the real quality of the specific object is not always known".

The project is implemented jointly by the Russian Military Historical Society and the All-Russian Public Organization "Volunteers of Victory". The application is based on the ViewApp application (https://viewapp.ru) with the assistance of the Abaev and Partners Agency.
