The "MЕСТОПАМЯТИ.РФ" (Memory place) project unites activists whose efforts are aimed at preserving and maintaining in dignity all objects of military historical heritage and places of military glory. They keep a memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War and outside the Russian Federation. Hundreds of places of memory were designated by activists from such countries as Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria.
On the portal "MЕСТОПАМЯТИ.РФ"(Memory place) there was a story about a monument in Austria "To perished Soviet pilots", which, on its own project and on its own money, was built by the Rieglers’ family. One of the Red Army aircraft returning from a combat mission was hit and collapsed in the mountain village of Thomasburg-Hoffeldorf a few meters from their house.
- "It happened on March 29, 1945, in the pre-Easter "green Thursday". It could become black for us, "says Johann Riegler (he was then 7 years old)," It was clear in the evening sky how one of the cars caught fire, made a detour and headed backwards. The plane began to lose altitude sharply. And suddenly there was a terrible explosion. The earth trembled, the glass shattered in the house, the roof caught fire ... In the morning the entire district was strewn with metal fragments. At 30 meters from our house from the soft spring land stuck burned remains of the aircraft. "
The Riegler family retained the remains of the aircraft collected after the crash. Many times they were offered to sell them, but Johann and his younger brother Thomas dreamed of making out of them memorial elements. The archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation managed to find information about the crew members who did not return from the combat mission on the night of March 29-30, 1945. Officers of the 238th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 4th Guards Bomber Aviation Gomel Corps were reported as missing. Their names are carved on a monument that was unveiled in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Victory over fascism.

"Memory Place" is a federal social patriotic project aimed to identify, preserve, and maintain the objects of military historical heritage and places of military glory (monuments, memorial plaques, eternal flames, fraternal and solitary burials). The project is implemented jointly by the Russian Military Historical Society and the All-Russian Public Organization "Volunteers of Victory.
Within the framework of the project, a patriotic Internet portal with a map of memorable places connected with the Great Patriotic War and other events of military history was created. Any active citizen will be able to join the volunteer movement and make his personal contribution to the preservation of the country's historical and cultural heritage. After a simple registration procedure in the application, users can add an object, describe it, and attach photos. At the same time, "people's monitoring" will become an incentive for local authorities to keep monuments in proper condition. For mobile devices on iOS and Android, the app "MЕСТОПАМЯТИ.РФ" (Memory place) is released, which makes it more convenient to replenish the base of monuments and memorials.
