Today, TASS hosted a press conference dedicated to the opening of the country's first unified Center for Military Historical Reenactment on the territory of the State Museum-Reserve Borodino.
In the briefing took part the following participants: the scientific director of the Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS) Mikhail Myagkov, the director of the State Military Historical Museum-Reserve Borodino Igor Korneev, the president of the International Military Historical Association Alexander Valkovych and the deputy director for the development of the State military historical museum-reserve Borodino Larisa Berezovaya.
As part of the press conference, the participants discussed issues related to the creation of the center, its tasks and objectives, the organization and holding of historical festivals, as well as the reunification of the country's reconstruction clubs. Particular attention was paid to the functions of the new organization. In the opinion of the participants, the center will facilitate the coordination of the re-enactors from all over Russia, interregional exchange of experience and popularization of the direction among the youth. The center for military historical reenacting will be operated on the basis of the web portalИстория.РФ (History.RF).
“More than 40 military-historical festivals are organized under the aegis of the Russian Military Historical Society. Why does the RMHS and our country need reconstruction? The first is the patriotic upbringing of the youth. The preservation of the memory of the heroic pages of our history is the most important thing for us. The second is cognition, an enlightening function. For example, in Moscow, the RMHS opened a Museum of military uniforms, where the uniform of our soldiers and officers of the past centuries is represented. What military uniforms of different epochs looked like, what weapons were used - all this can be seen at festivals,” - the scientific director of RMHS Mikhail Myagkov said.
“If we talk about the whole of Russia, then about 10 thousand people are involved in the reconstruction of various historical eras. The task of the center is coordination and exchange of experience. There is also an element of help here - how best to distribute the sites according to epochs and anniversaries. The center is also essential because the regions have difficulties, they lack information, and we can help them,” - said Alexander Valkovych, president of the International Military Historical Association, stressing the importance of international cooperation. “Military Historical Reenacting is one of the elements of "people's diplomacy". We maintain good relations with our colleagues from Germany, France, Italy, Austria. Even when we go to festivals, not quite knowing the languages, people still quickly find mutual understanding,” - he said.
As early as September 2, 2018, the annual International Military History Festival dedicated to the anniversary of the Battle of Borodino will be held on the Borodino Field. This event will be the first significant event in the "biography" of the All-Russian Center for Military Historical Reenacting.
“From August 30, an interactive camp will begin, in which it will be possible to get acquainted with the life of the Russian and French armies. Reconstruction of one of the episodes of the Battle of Borodino will be held on September 2. It is very important for us that for the first time on our ceremonials there will be direct descendants of Rayevsky and Kutuzov. One will come from Spain, the other from Argentina,” stressed Igor Korneev, director of the state military historical museum-reserve Borodino.
According to preliminary forecasts, about 30 000 spectators will take part in the Borodino festival. The festival will also be visited by representatives of the embassies of France, Germany, Poland, Italy and Switzerland.
