Russia will honor memory of the victims and heroes of the World War I

On the day of the anniversary of Russia's accession to World War I, on August 1, at 11.30 in Moscow on Poklonnaya Hill will take place a solemn ceremony of laying wreaths at the foot of the monument to the Heroes of World War I.

The event is planned to be attended by: the Chairman of the Russian Historical Society Sergei Naryshkin; the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS) Vladimir Medinsky; the Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the RMHS Vladimir Churov, People's Artist of Russia Salavat Shcherbakov, People's Artist of Russia Vasily Nesterenko, as well as activists from public and youth organizations.

At 10.00 a.m. in the Memorial and Park Complex of Heroes of the World War I (Moscow, Novopeschanaya St., 12) Sergey Naryshkin and Vladimir Medinsky will lay flowers to the obelisk "To the Fallen in the World War of 1914-1918" and the grave of the Supreme Commander of all land and sea forces of the Russian Empire - Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich (junior), whose remains are buried in the Chapel of the Transfiguration of the Savior in the Bratskoye Military Cemetery.

The first national monument to the heroes and victims of the World War I was established by the Russian Military Historical Society in Moscow on Poklonnaya Hill on August 1, 2014 - the centenary of the First World War. The opening ceremony of the monument was attended by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The action has an international scale. Ceremony of laying flowers on monuments to Heroes of the First World War on August 1 will also be held in Poland, France and a number of regions of Russia - the cities of Tula, Lipetsk, Orenburg, Pskov, Saransk, Kaliningrad. The memory of compatriots will be honored with a minute of silence.
