Antifashist graphics of the time of war in the all-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature

The exhibition "Antifascist graphics of the war time", prepared by the Krasnogorsk branch of the Victory Museum, was opened in the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino. This is the fourth joint project of cultural institutions with the support of the Russian Military Historical Society.

During the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet people gave all their strength to the struggle against the invasion of fascism. The life of Soviet art, as well as the life of the whole country, was held in those years under the slogan "Everything for the front, everything for the Victory!". Together with their people, Soviet artists worked, bringing their hour of victory over the enemy closer owing to their creativity. The most popular genres of art - a poster, a political caricature, a newspaper drawing, a leaflet - came to the forefront. It is possible to say with certainty that there was no artist who would not work in one of these types of agitational art.

At the exhibition of the Krasnogorsk branch of the Victory Museum "Antifascist graphics of the times of war" are presented works from the fund museum collection of work of such famous graphic artists as Boris Efimov, Boris Prorokov, Alexander Zhitomirsky, Boris Klich, Ivan Kharkevich and Nikolai Zhukov. In the Soviet Union, their works were printed in millions of copies and were known throughout the country.

The fact that their authors are front-line soldiers who have marched with their army along the roads of war, sharing with the soldiers the sorrows and joys of front life is of particular value to these works.

In their speeches Executive Director of the RMHS Vladislav Kononov, deputy director of the Victory Museum in exposition and exhibition work Eldar Yanibekov, representative of the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino Elena Novikova, head of the Krasnogorsk branch of the Victory Museum Svetlana Lyubenkova spoke about the invaluable contribution of artists to the cause of Victory over the enemy, the relevance of the new exhibition project. The honorary guest of the event was Peter Prorokov- the son of the USSR People's Artist, master of satire, poster and sculptor Boris Ivanovich Prorokofov.

Boris Prorokov - a participant of the Great Patriotic War since 1941. Passed along the roads of war from Finland, the Baltic, Novorossiysk, Berlin to the Far East. He served as an artist of the Main Directorate of Political Propaganda of the Navy. He created drawings for front-line printing and leaflets that were dropped from aircraft over enemy territory. At the exhibition his work is represented by works performed on the Leningrad front.

The exhibition "Antifascist graphics of the times of war" will work until July 8, 2018.
